C230 Red Brass
Red Brass is generally regarded as the most durable of all the practically priced metals for commercial water pipe. High copper brasses such as C230 Red Brass are excellent for resistance to dezincification and season cracking. Red Brass is commonly specified for underground service lines because it offers the greatest corrosion resistance to all types of potable waters. It has also become popular as an outdoor metal and has an important place in modern architecture.
C230 Red Brass is available in the following formats:
Round Tube
- 12’ (3.657m) Lengths
Pipe
- 12’ (3.657m) Lengths
- Standard Sizes 1/8” x Schedule 40 – 8” x Schedule 40
- Schedule 80 also available upon request
C260 Cartridge Brass
C260 Cartridge Brass has the highest ductility in the yellow brass series. It is easily machined but is more often cold formed. The metal takes its name from the fact that it is the standard metal used for manufacturing munitions shell casings. It is also the standard material for innumerable parts made by drawing, spinning, pressing, stamping and other forming processes.
C260 Cartridge Brass is available in the following formats:
Sheet and Coil
- Widths up to 60” (1.524m)
- Gauges .012” (.3048mm) – .125” (3.175mm)
- A Variety of Tempers and Grades
Plate
- Widths up to 48” (1.219m)
- Gauges .250”(6.35mm) – .75”(19.04mm)
- Variety of Tempers
C272 Yellow Brass
C272 Yellow Brass is full yellow in colour and carries strength and hardness similar to more pure copper metals. It also possesses an excellent capacity for being cold worked but is not adaptable to being hot worked.
C272 Yellow Brass is available in the following format:
Round Tube
- 12’ (3.657m) – 16’ (4.8767m) Lengths
- Outside Diameters .125” (3.175mm) – 4” (101.6mm)
- Variety of Tempers
- Reeded and Roped also Available
C280 Muntz Metal
C280 Muntz Metal possesses a colour that is essentially that of extruded architectural bronze. Because of its colour, relatively lower cost, and the fact that it lends itself well to heavier gauge sheet or plate, it finds great use as an architectural metal.
CBC Specialty Metals is proud to have been the supplier of the Muntz Metal used at the 9-11 Memorial site in New York City.
C280 Muntz Metal is available in the following formats:
Sheet and Coil
- Widths up to 48” (1.219m)
- Gauges .040” (1.016mm) – .1875” (4.762mm)
- Finishes Include but Not Limited to Satin #4, Mirror #8, and Standard
Plate
- Widths from 36” (914.4mm) – 48” (1.219m)
- Gauges .250”(6.35mm) – .75”(19.04mm)
C330 Low Leaded Tube Brass
C330 Low Leaded Tube Brass is a yellow brass produced in tube form only that is both formable and machinable. It is a good general utility tube where corrosive conditions are not severe. Although not classified as free-cutting, it contains enough lead to cut nicely in threading operations.
C330 Low Leaded Tube Brass is available in the following format:
Round Tube
- 12’ (3.657m) Lengths
- Outside Diameters .250” (6.35mm) – 3” (76.19mm)
- Wall Thicknesses from .025” (.0635mm) – .125” (3.175mm)
C353 Engravers Brass
As its name indicates, this is the most commonly used brass alloy for engraved brass articles like name plates.
C353 Low Leaded Tube Brass is available in the following formats:
Sheet
- 24” (609.59mm) Width
- Gauges .025” (0.635mm) – .125” (3.175mm)
- Finishes Including but Not Limited to Satin, Mirror, Lacquered and PVC
Plate
- 24” (609.59mm) Width
- Gauges .250” (6.35mm)
C360 Free Cutting Brass
C360 Free Cutting Brass is the alloy most often used for high-speed machine operations, because it produces minimal tool wear, tool breakage, and unnecessary downtime. Rods can be produced in all standard shapes.
C360 Free Cutting Brass is available in the following format:
Bars
- 12’ (3.657m) Lengths
- Diameters from .0937” (2.381mm) – 6.5” (165.1)
- Variety of Tempers
- All Standard Shapes (Square, Hex, Rounds, Flat Bar)
C464 Naval Brass
C464 Naval Brass is typical of brass alloys with the duplex alpha + beta structure; it has good strength and rigidity. By substituting tin for an equal quantity of zinc, a high corrosion resistance to seawater is achieved. The addition of tin also gives the alloy an inherent resistance to dezincification, thereby further inhibiting the impingement by seawater at higher than normal temperatures. The alloy is also noted for its resistance to wear, fatigue, galling, and stress corrosion cracking.
C464 Naval Brass is available in the following formats:
Round Bar
- 12’ (3.657m) Lengths
- Diameters from .1875” (4.762mm) – 10” (254mm)
Plate
- Widths up to 48” (1.219m)
- Gauges .250”(6.35mm) – .75”(19.04mm)
In addition to the alloys detailed here, CBC Specialty Metals supplies others upon request including but not limited to the following:
