Aurubis has developed a range of factory-applied surface treatments that replicate the various stages of the oxidisation and patination which they call their “Nordic” line of copper products.
The processes involved utilise copper mineral compounds, not alien chemical treatments. This means that the environmental changes are replicated without taking away the integrity of copper as a natural living metal.

Aurubis’ Nordic Surfaces offer a range of surface finishes starting in the light-dark browns of pre/post oxidisation following into the various stages of green/verdigris patina development. Should your next project require something more unique, the Nordic line also offers a range of blue patinas. As all Nordic surfaces form an integral part of the copper and are not coatings or paint, they will change and age as the natural copper in the local environment does. As the patina reaches maturity it will closely resemble the patinas of other mature copper installations in the local environment.
Nordic Royal™ is a unique product in Aurubis’ line of Nordic surfaces. Its golden hue will not change over time and will simply become slightly matte compared to its initial installation. This leaves it as an excellent alternative to gilding to achieve a rich golden architectural feature that will retain its look for decades to come.
All Nordic Products are available in sheet or coil form and are supplied with a protective sheet to the finished face.
